abstract

  • © 2018 Elsevier Inc. Glycolysis is prudently regulated and coupled to cell growth. Phosphofructokinase 2 controls glycolytic flux by generating fructose 2,6-bisphosphate, an allosteric activator of phosphofructokinase 1. In a recent paper in Nature, Dasgupta et al. address the novel role of PFKFB4, an isoform of phosphofructokinase 2, in regulating gene expression to promote tumor growth.
