We found an association between ECG-defined left atrial abnormality and subsequent nonlacunar ischemic stroke. Our findings suggest that an underlying atrial cardiopathy may cause left atrial thromboembolism in the absence of recognized AF. Ann Neurol 2015;78:Ann Neurol 2015;78:679-696.
