Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma
Carcinoma, Non-Small-Cell Lung
Primary central nervous system lymphoma was first described as perithelial sarcoma by Bailey. It was subsequently classified as reticulum cell sarcoma because of the characteristic reticulum it deposited around blood vessels. Later, it was described as a microglioma after the presumed cell of origin, the microglia. Henry et al. classified these tumors as primary malignant lymphomas of the central nervous system because of their histological similarities to extraneural malignant lymphoma. The lymphoid nature of primary central nervous system lymphoma was established unequivocally by modern immunohistochemical techniques. © 2012 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
