Cognitive Control and Development
During the past decade, significant advances have been made in characterizing changes in cognitive and neural processes with development, particularly in the development of cognitive control, the ability to reduce interference from competing sources. This article highlights some of the most influential work on the development of cognitive control and the neural mechanisms underlying this ability. Emphasis is placed on changes in prefrontal circuitry that parallel changes in cognitive control from infancy to adolescence. © 2009 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved.
