Anemia, Hemolytic, Autoimmune
Antibodies, Monoclonal, Murine-Derived
Why primary autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AHA) is more refractory to standard "frontline" treatment than immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) remains unclear. The response of AHA to steroids, splenectomy, and especially intravenous immuno-globulin is inferior to that seen in patients with ITP, making reliance on immuno-suppression more important. © 2011 by The American Society of Hematology.
