abstract

  • Death from GvH has been one of the major problems of matched unrelated donor transplants. We combined 5 treatment components, Cyclosporin A, Methotrexale, ATG 30 nig/kg day -3-2-1, Pcmaglobin 350 mg/kg day 1,8,16,21,28 and Metronidasol, all of which are reported to have anti-GvH-effect. A total of 44 patients were transplanted, medium age 31 (0.6 to 51 years of age) Diagnosis: AML 9, ALL 7, CML 22, others 6 Conditioning regiments: TBI/Cy: 19, TBI/Cy/VP16: 17 , Bu/Cy: 1, Bu/Cy/VP16: 6, BU/VP16: 1. At the time of analysis 30 of 44 are alive, 28 disease free, acute GvH grade II 13, GvH III to IV 9, chronic GvH 8. The overall survival is 68 %; in the age group < 30 years: 71%, > 30 years: 65%. The fivefold GvH-preveniion (Pentade) prevents GvH sucessfully and allows for improved survival even in older patients.
