  • Minimum hematocrit level during CPB is an independent risk factor for mortality after coronary artery surgery. There is a significantly increased risk of mortality for hematocrit levels < or =14%. For high-risk patients, there is a significantly increased risk of mortality for hematocrit levels < or =17%.
