Reoperative retroperitoneal surgery for nonseminomatous germ cell tumor can be performed with acceptable morbidity in select referral centers. Teratoma is highly prevalent in the retroperitoneum at the time of reoperation. A significant subset of these high-risk patients can be salvaged with complete resection.
