abstract

  • Symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) are common in pregnancy. Although it rarely endangers maternal or fetal health, GERD can cause much patient discomfort and severely worsen a woman's quality of life. Treatment of heart-burn presents special clinical challenges because of the paucity of safety data for pharmacological therapy and concern regarding the risks of diagnostic studies.
