abstract

  • Posteroventral pallidotomy usually has limited benefit in patients with degenerative atypical parkinsonism who do not respond to levodopa therapy. Nevertheless, pallidotomy can be an effective treatment for other levodopa-unresponsive parkinsonian disorders.
