Petros Efthimiou   Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine

Dr Petros Efthimiou, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Rheumatology at NYU School of Medicine. A graduate of the University of Ioannina Medical School in Ioannina, Greece, Dr Efthimiou completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, and his Rheumatology Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery and New York Presbyterian/Cornell Campus. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Efthimiou has expertise in the treatment of autoimmune disorders including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Gout, Osteoarthritis, Myositis, SLE-lupus, Sjogren's syndrome, Vasculitis, Pulmonary Hypertension, Scleroderma, Osteoporosis, Auto-inflammatory Syndromes and Adult onset Still’s Disease. Dr. Efthimiou has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and was a Clinical Investigator in several trials. He has served as invited faculty, ad hoc reviewer, editorial board member and Lead Guest Editor in several peer-reviewed journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of an international textbook in Autoinflammatory conditions published by the Springer-Nature group. A 2012-18 US News & World Report "Top Doctor" in Rheumatology, he was also the recipient of the "Patients’ Choice" awaed. Dr Efthimiou has been named "Super Doctor" by New York Times T Magazine, included in the prestigious "New York Metro Top Doctors" publication by Castle Connolly Medical and featured in the "Best Doctors" list by New York Magazine.
