Margaret McNairy   Assistant Professor of Medicine

I am a physician-scientist focused on improving health care in resource-poor populations in Haiti and Africa, particularly for HIV and cardiovascular diseases.  My HIV research focuses on developing effective and practical models of care which will reduce HIV-related mortality and decrease HIV transmission at the population level. I also evaluate cardiovascular disease risk factors and other chronic diseases in both HIV-infected and uninfected populations to understand the determinants of chronic diseases in these populations.  In addition to research, I spend 25% of my time attending on the internal medical teaching service at Cornell and co-direct Cornell’s Global Health Research Fellowship.  The fellowship is a three-year research training program for internists interested in chronic diseases, including HIV and non-communicable disease in resource-poor settings.
