Sri Lekha Tummalapalli, MD, MBA, MAS is a nephrologist and health services researcher at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her research examines value-based payment and healthcare delivery strategies to achieve high quality care for patients with chronic diseases, with a focus on kidney disease. She is currently studying 1) the impact of alternative payment models on the quality, utilization, and equity of kidney care; 2) strategies to incorporate social factors in payment models and delivery system interventions; and 3) population health approaches to improve guideline-directed medical therapy in cardio-renal-metabolic diseases. Her research has been funded by AHRQ, NIDDK, the American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, and Dalio Center for Health Justice. 

Dr. Tummalapalli graduated from Harvard College with a BA in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Economics, followed by an MD/MBA at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School. She completed internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital and nephrology fellowship at University of California, San Francisco, where she obtained a Masters in Clinical Research. 

Dr. Tummalapalli practices inpatient nephrology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center where she teaches medical students, residents, and fellows. She is a Research Associate at the Rogosin Institute, a nationally renowned provider of kidney care. As a member of the American Society of Nephrology Quality Committee, she actively engages with policymakers which informs her research interests.
