John Barnhill, MD is Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Medical Ethics, Vice Chair for Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and DeWitt Wallace Senior Scholar at NYP/Weill Cornell Medicine.

Dr. Barnhill directs the NYP/WCM House Staff Mental Health program, the Employee Assistance Program for the New York Mets, and psychiatric services at HSS. He is the psychiatric liaison for the advanced heart failure team at NYP/Weill Cornell.

Dr. Barnhill has served on the NYP/WCM Ethics Committee since 2001. He currently chairs the Ethics Committee at the Columbia Psychoanalytic Center.  

He has previously chaired the Medical College's General Faculty Council and the psychiatry department's Faculty Council, and served as President of the Society for Liaison Psychiatry.

Dr. Barnhill has written or edited 6 psychiatric texts. He serves on the editorial board of American Psychiatric Publishing (APP), the book publishing arm of the American Psychiatric Association.
