Orthopaedic joint disorders

Dr. Westrich's primary research interests lie in the field of joint disorders including; complex total joint reconstruction, total joint replacement and degenerative joint disease. He is also interested in orthopedic trauma and fracture management. Some of Dr. Westrich's current research interests include: thrombogenesis and fibrinolysis in total hip arthroplasty, magnetic resonance venography for the evaluation of deep venous thrombosis in total hip arthroplasty, the effect of preoperative donation of autologous blood on deep vein thrombosis and the effect of impulse calf compression on the endothelial derived markers of coagulation.
