Dr. Evelyn Sassoon is a clinician in private practice on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She sees adults, adolescents and couples and utilizes concepts and techniques from psychodynamic psychotherapy with the ultimate goal of patients’ improved mood and functioning.

Dr. Sassoon is also an eating disorders specialist and uses cognitive behavior therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy in the treatment of eating disorders.

Dr. Sassoon has been affiliated with the Personality Studies Institute since 2013 and is a research therapist in the current ongoing study on the effectiveness of transference focused psychotherapy (TFP) for borderline personality disorder. She is a certified therapist and supervisor in TFP.

She has also participated as an interviewer in an ongoing study of the STIPO-R as an assessment tool for narcissistic personality disorder.

Dr. Sassoon graduated from Harvard College and received her doctorate in psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology of Yeshiva University. She interned at New York Presbyterian Hospital (then Columbia Presbyterian) and trained in cognitive behavior therapy on the Columbia Presbyterian eating disorders inpatient unit. She also served as a staff psychologist in the adult outpatient psychiatric clinic at Columbia Presbyterian for several years, running groups in Spanish. She is a certified group therapist.

Dr. Sassoon is Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, and Assistant Attending Psychologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Awards
Dr. Sassoon was a recipient of the Tenzer Fellowship at Yeshiva University, the 1999-2000 American Psychoanalytic Association mentorship award and the 2000-2001 NYU Psychoanalytic Institute fellowship.
