Regurgitant valve disease, congenital heart disease

The primary aim of our research projects is to understand the clinical course and pathophysiology of chronic nonischemic mitral or aortic regurgitation. Our group currently follows a large cohort of patients and has also developed animal models of valvular regurgitation. My particular area of interest has been the evaluation of right ventricular function of mitral regurgitation.

In addition, I have been involved in a joint project with Pediatric Cardiology using nuclear cardiology imaging to evaluate ventricular function (particularly right ventricular ejection fraction) in patients with transportation of the great arteries who have undergone surgical repair.
