Naomi B. Bishop   Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics

My current research seeks to determine whether early term birth is associated with increased morbidity following open heart surgery. There is recent evidence to suggest a significant difference in outcomes in neonates born at 37-38 weeks gestation versus those born after 39 completed weeks. We are currently conducting a retrospective chart review of the Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Database to answer this question. In addition, we are developing a morbidity score that we hope to test in a future, larger, multicenter study.
