As a member of the library faculty, Antonio serves as the Oncology Consumer Health Librarian which is a patient and caregiver oriented clinical role specializing in oncology information, education, and managing patient-focused oncology resources within the Myra Mahon Patient Resource Center (PRC). Antonio works in close collaboration with the Oncology Service Line at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and on interdisciplinary teams in the WCM Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center. Working directly with leadership at both institutions, Antonio serves as an oncology information ombudsman to patients, families/caregivers, faculty, and students. He participates on the cancer care team by delivering information therapy to patients and their caregivers, is a key resource to oncology staff and medical students surrounding evidence-based medicine, point-of-care tools, and consumer health resources, and advises on strategies to enhance patient comprehension of care plans to optimize quality of life and the overall patient experience. Antonio’s research interests include health literacy, participatory medicine, patient-centered care, shared decision making (SDM), and health equity.
