Research

research overview

  • My primary research interests encompass the use of information and communication technologies to empower patients, specifically using Artificial Intelligence, Wearable devices, Social Media,  and Mobile Technologies to promote public health practice and healthcare literacy. In my master degree, I focused on the diagnostic accuracy of teledermatology in diagnosing skin diseases. In my doctoral work, I was interested in the factors that affect adoption of electronic personal health records. An extensive amount of my research work today focuses on empowering patients through the use of artificial intelligence, social media, and mobile health technologies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we published 5 studies about technologies used in the fight against COVID-19. Currently, I have more than 50 publications. I am committed not only to publishing my work to further influence the policies and public practice of this field, but also to making my research relevant and accessible to others through innovation and entrepreneurship.

Teaching

teaching overview

  • I always strive to be that great teacher who is able to invest in students’ minds to change the community, country, and world. Therefore, in any course I teach, I aim to (i) arm students with a set of skills that are crucial for their success in their study, career, and life (e.g., critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, initiative, and entrepreneurialism), (ii) help them discover their passions and capabilities, and (iii) inspire them to continue developing themselves to achieve their passions. To achieve the abovementioned aims, I always follow a student-centered, collaborative and participatory approach and use blended strategies of lecture-based structure learning, active learning, research-based learning, and team-based learning.
